Inclement Weather Inspiration

When you think of winter time, what images pop up in your mind? Christmas, New Year's, Valentine's Day? Well, if you're a true fashionista, you think of those things, but also you think of warming layers, the perfect boots, fab faux/real fur, flowing scarves, and leather gloves. Personally, it seems that winter is the best time for the best fashion because you can do so much with the new clothing that is offered. Unfortunately, there are those that find winter to be quite a pain and all that it means to them is frigid winds and flu season. It doesn't have to be  so awful! Perk up your attitude by learning what it is that you can wear to make you feel good on these chilly days.
Items that should be in your winter wardrobe:
  • a peacoat- preferably camel because it's a neutral color and matches with most boots & bags
  • a boyfriend cardigan- they're adorable and come in a variety of prints. Go all out & choose the polka dots, stripes, or even the animal print
  • riding boots- these boots are definitely the in-boots for this season. Try getting a black, brown, and cognac color
  • black opaque tights- they became a staple in every woman's wardrobe in the 60's and prove to still be timeless. They lengthen you legs and look awesome with suede, black boots
  • Cable-knit sweater or cashmere sweater- cable-knits are usually preppy, but depending on how you style it, it can be casual, sophisticated, or modern & the cashmere sweater is available in so many versions: cardigan, crewneck, or a crewneck. Not only that, but cashmere is extremely silky, light, and the warmest of all fibers. The warmer the sweater, the more expensive.
  • Gloves- best option is to opt for the classic leather glove that fits perfectly to your fingers. You could even go for the fingerless version if you're feeling edgy
  • Fur- okay, I must say that I am PETA-friendly, so I would more likely go for the fake. If the fur is fake, never get one that looks real. Embrace the fakeness. Why is this? Because that's what makes them so incredibly chic. (Sidenote: If you've never seen The Devil Wears Prada, check it out & see how Meryl Streep wears her).
